Residents of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State have raised concern following the discovery of the mutilated body of an unidentified man behind the Monday Market.
The decomposing remains were reportedly found on Tuesday morning by members of the community, who alerted security operatives. The body was subsequently evacuated to the General Hospital, Pankshin, as efforts continued to establish the victim’s identity.
Community sources said some parts of the deceased’s body had been removed, including the ears, nose and private parts. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death, however, remained unclear as of the time of reporting.
A community member, Panshak Rogo, described the discovery as disturbing and appealed to anyone with a missing relative who may fit the description to contact the police or hospital for identification.
Residents also urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine how the man died and who was responsible.
The Plateau State Police Command had yet to provide an official statement on the case at the time of publication.
