Galatasaray have received a major boost ahead of Friday’s Turkish Süper Lig clash with Kasımpaşa after Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen returned to partial team training.

Osimhen, who has been sidelined by a groin injury, joined his teammates for the opening stages of Tuesday’s session at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under head coach Okan Buruk.

The 27-year-old participated in the initial team exercises before switching to an individual programme supervised by the club’s medical staff as he continues his recovery.

Galatasaray began the session with a dynamic warm-up before moving into passing drills, possession exercises and a small-sided game.

Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç completed the full training session with the squad.

Defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai, however, continued with separate rehabilitation programmes as they recover from their respective injuries.

Osimhen’s return to partial training is an encouraging development for the Turkish champions, although the club is expected to manage his comeback carefully to avoid aggravating the injury.

The Nigeria international is being assessed with Friday’s meeting with Kasımpaşa at Rams Park in mind, although a final decision on his involvement will depend on his fitness.

Galatasaray will also have another major fixture on the horizon, with Barcelona due to visit Rams Park in the UEFA Champions League four days after the league encounter.

The Turkish champions are scheduled to continue preparations with another training session on Wednesday as Osimhen races to regain full fitness.
