Gombe State has recorded 80 points in the third-quarter 2026 Subnational Status Ranking of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria, placing the state among those recognised for progress in open governance.
The assessment measures key indicators including the existence of a State Action Plan, multi-stakeholder forums, a functional secretariat, online platforms and evidence of high-level political commitment to open government.
The state government said the performance reflects efforts to strengthen institutional mechanisms that promote citizen participation, transparency, accountability and inclusive governance.
It added that the assessment came amid ongoing efforts to deepen stakeholder engagement and improve transparency in the implementation of government policies and programmes.
According to the state, the 80-point score places Gombe among subnational governments demonstrating progress in institutionalising key components of the open-government framework.
The administration said it would build on the reported progress by strengthening governance structures, expanding opportunities for citizen participation and improving responsiveness to residents.
The OGP framework focuses on institutional arrangements that support transparency, accountability and public participation in governance.
