Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued five abducted women, including a mother and her infant, during an operation in the Madaci Forest area of Sabuwa Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The Nigerian Army said the troops acted on intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists in the area and swiftly mobilised to intercept them.
According to the military, the tactical operation created confusion among the terrorists, enabling the troops to safely rescue the victims.
The rescued persons included a mother and her infant, alongside three other minors and young adults from Danja and Funtua Local Government Areas.
The victims were subsequently handed over to the Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Abubakar Musa, for reunification with their families.
The Army said troops have continued aggressive patrols in the area to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements.
