Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has declared himself the best candidate to govern Lagos State in the 2027 election, citing his knowledge of the state’s history, politics and administration.
Hamzat made the statement on Sunday during the 70th Harvest Anniversary and Thanksgiving Service of the Cherubim and Seraphim Society, Olorunsogo Parish, Ese-Ofin, Lagos.
He said anyone seeking to govern Lagos must understand its history and political structure, adding that his years of public service had given him extensive knowledge of the state.
Hamzat said he had served Lagos as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works and currently as Deputy Governor, following his return from the United States to join the administration of then Governor Bola Tinubu.
He also warned residents against politicians who make attractive promises during election campaigns, saying Lagos should not be entrusted to inexperienced leadership.
Hamzat is the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship election after emerging from the party’s primary in May.
The deputy governor said his experience in government had prepared him for the governorship position and reiterated his understanding of the state’s political and administrative affairs.
