Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has maintained that he left the state without debt when he handed over power.
Obi made the statement while responding to discussions about the state’s finances and his record as governor. He reiterated that his administration prioritised prudent management of public resources, infrastructure and investments.
He also defended his financial stewardship, saying his government was committed to accountability and responsible use of public funds.
The former governor’s claim comes amid renewed political debates over the financial records and governance records of past administrations in Anambra State.
