The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in serving as ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.
The commission plans to recruit about 1.4 million temporary election personnel who will be deployed across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide.
The recruitment covers positions including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel. Eligible serving NYSC members, former corps members who meet the requirements, tertiary institution students, certain government employees and qualified ICT personnel are among those who may apply, depending on the position.
How to apply
Interested applicants are required to access the INECPRES recruitment portal through INEC’s official platforms and first check the eligibility requirements for their preferred position.
Applicants should register, create a password and complete the application form with their personal, contact and bank details. They are also required to upload a recent passport photograph and provide details of two referees. Applicants must carefully review their information before submitting because submitted applications cannot be edited.
After submission, applicants are required to print their acknowledgement slip, which will be needed for final verification.
According to the recruitment notice, the application window opened at 8am on Friday, September 18, 2026, and will close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
INEC has advised applicants to use only its official platforms and avoid individuals or websites requesting payment for recruitment.
