Police Deploy Officers to Anambra Schools as Students Resume

The Anambra State Police Command has deployed personnel to schools and strategic locations across the state as pupils and students resume for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The deployment is being carried out under the Inspector General of Police’s Safe School Initiative, with the aim of strengthening security around educational institutions and preventing possible threats.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the operation is being coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo.

He said officers would maintain a visible presence around schools, sensitise students on personal safety, assist children with safe road crossing and respond promptly to security concerns.

The command also said the exercise would strengthen cooperation between the police, school authorities, teachers, parents, guardians and host communities to identify and prevent security threats.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, urged students, parents and school authorities to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the police.

The Anambra State Government confirmed that schools reopened on September 14 for the 2026/2027 academic session.
