Israel is heading into a closely contested national election on October 27, with polling showing no candidate currently holding a clear path to forming a government.
Yashar leads the latest polling aggregate by three percentage points over Likud. The same polling average projects anti Netanyahu parties with 66 seats, compared with 48 seats for parties supporting Benjamin Netanyahu. However, the opposition bloc could still struggle to assemble the coalition needed to form a government.
The election will be Israel’s first national vote since the Hamas led attack on October 7, 2023, which triggered the war in Gaza and contributed to wider regional conflicts involving Lebanon and Iran.
The result could determine whether Netanyahu remains prime minister after one of the most consequential periods in Israel’s recent history or loses power to centrist rivals campaigning on promises of political change.
