AI music company Suno has launched a new suite of artificial intelligence models in partnership with Warner Music Group and BMG, allowing users to create new music inspired by licensed works from participating artists.
The move comes as the music industry continues to grapple with the rapid growth of AI-generated music and concerns over copyright, artist compensation and the use of existing recordings to train AI systems.
Suno’s new lineup includes its flagship v6 model, the experimental v6-Wild, and v6-mini, which will be available to users at no cost. The company says the models are designed to provide more precise, faster and creative music-generation capabilities.
The partnerships also signal a broader effort to establish a more structured relationship between AI companies and the music industry. Suno says future products could allow individual artists to opt in to AI experiences and receive compensation for their participation.
The development comes as major streaming platforms and technology companies explore ways to introduce AI-generated and AI-assisted music while maintaining greater transparency and protecting the interests of artists and rights holders.
