A three storey building has collapsed in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, with rescue operations currently underway.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Monday and was confirmed by Mr Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, said officials of the FCT Fire Service and ambulances were already at the scene responding to the incident.
Although details of possible casualties were not immediately available, Olayinka disclosed that the FCTA Development Control had sealed the building earlier on Monday and directed occupants to vacate the premises.
Rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities work to determine the extent of the damage and establish whether anyone was trapped inside the building.
