The Bauchi APC Youth Ambassadors have called on the Bauchi State Government to provide greater transparency over its planned N10 billion allocation for the payment of outstanding gratuity owed to retired civil servants.

The group said details of the proposed payment should be made public, including the number of beneficiaries, the categories of retirees to be covered and the specific years of outstanding gratuity arrears the allocation is expected to address.

It also urged the government to disclose the state’s total gratuity liability and provide a clear timeline for commencing the payments.

The APC youth group stressed that gratuity payments should be handled transparently and without political considerations, noting that the entitlements were earned by retirees after years of public service.

It further called on relevant government agencies, pensioners’ associations, labour unions, civil society organisations and the media to monitor the implementation of the programme to ensure that the funds reach their intended beneficiaries.

The group said greater accountability in the disbursement process would help strengthen public confidence and ensure that the government’s intervention effectively addresses the challenges facing retired workers in the state.
