Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto has completed his move to Italian Serie A side Fiorentina on a season long loan.
The 22 year old Italy international will spend the 2026/27 campaign with Fiorentina after the two clubs reached an agreement on deadline day.
Fiorentina have secured the winger on an initial paid loan deal of around €1 million, with an option to make the transfer permanent for a reported €15 million at the end of the season.
Gnonto completed his medical in Italy before Leeds gave the final approval for the transfer after securing a replacement for the forward. The deal was subsequently registered before the Serie A transfer deadline.
The move brings Gnonto back to his home country after he left Italy in 2020 to continue his development abroad. He began his youth career with Inter before moving to Swiss club FC Zurich, where he made his senior breakthrough.
He joined Leeds in 2022 and went on to establish himself as an important attacking player at Elland Road. During his time with the English club, Gnonto made 65 appearances across the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, scoring six goals and providing eight assists, according to Fiorentina’s announcement.
The winger also remains part of the Italian national team setup and has earned 13 senior international caps, scoring once.
Gnonto’s move to Fiorentina gives him the opportunity to play regularly in Serie A and continue his development in familiar surroundings after finding himself lower in the pecking order at Leeds.
Fiorentina, meanwhile, have added another attacking option as they strengthen their squad for the new season. The Italian club completed the deal alongside the late arrival of Pedro Gonçalves from Sporting CP.
For Leeds, the departure allows the club to reshape its attacking options while maintaining the possibility of Gnonto returning to Elland Road if Fiorentina decide not to exercise the purchase option.
The transfer was completed on September 1, with Leeds confirming that Gnonto will remain with Fiorentina until the conclusion of the 2026/27 campaign.
