Rangers midfielder Lyall Cameron has joined Dundee United on a season long loan deal, giving the 23 year old an opportunity to secure regular first team football during the 2026/27 campaign.
The move has been confirmed by both clubs, with the transfer subject to registration. Cameron returns to Dundee after spending the second half of last season on loan at Aberdeen.
The midfielder joined Rangers last summer after establishing himself at Dundee, where he made 119 appearances and scored 33 goals. His performances earned him international recognition with Scotland Under 21s and attracted the attention of Rangers.
However, Cameron found regular first team opportunities limited at Ibrox. He made 10 appearances for Rangers after joining the club and scored once before moving to Aberdeen on loan during the second half of the 2025/26 season.
His return to Dundee United represents another opportunity to rebuild his momentum and play consistently at senior level.
Cameron was previously part of Dundee United’s academy before being released as a schoolboy. He subsequently developed through Dundee’s system and became an important player for the club before making the move to Rangers.
The midfielder enjoyed his most productive spell at Dundee during the 2023/24 season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions while also earning recognition at international level.
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin welcomed the arrival of Cameron, who is expected to strengthen the club’s midfield options for the remainder of the campaign.
The move also sees Cameron return to the city where he began his football development, although he will now represent Dundee United after previously playing for their city rivals Dundee.
For Rangers, the loan provides Cameron with an opportunity to gain valuable playing experience while remaining contracted to the Glasgow club.
Dundee United will hope the midfielder can quickly settle into the squad and reproduce the form that made him one of the standout young players in Scottish football before his move to Rangers.
