Leeds Reject Sunderland Approach for Noah Okafor

Leeds United have rejected a late approach from Sunderland for Swiss forward Noah Okafor, making it clear that the player is not available for transfer.

Sunderland made an enquiry about the 26 year old on Tuesday as clubs moved to complete their final business before the summer transfer window closed. However, Leeds quickly shut down the approach and refused to consider allowing Okafor to leave Elland Road.

Okafor remains part of Daniel Farke’s plans at Leeds after establishing himself as an important attacking option since joining the club from AC Milan on a permanent deal in August 2025.

The Switzerland international signed a four year contract with Leeds and arrived with the ability to operate across the forward line, including on either wing and through the centre.

His versatility has become particularly valuable to Leeds as the club reshapes its attacking options. Wilfried Gnonto has completed a loan move to Fiorentina, while Leeds have also been working to strengthen their attacking depth before the deadline.

The decision to reject Sunderland’s approach reflects Leeds’ desire to retain their attacking options rather than weaken the squad at the end of the transfer window.

Okafor has already featured three times for Leeds this season, accumulating 160 minutes as he continues to build his fitness following an injury setback. He also made 28 Premier League appearances during the previous campaign.

Leeds’ stance is also understandable given the club’s need for attacking depth. With Gnonto departing and the team competing in the Premier League alongside domestic cup commitments, Farke is keen to maintain sufficient options across the forward positions.

Sunderland’s enquiry therefore failed to progress, with Leeds reportedly cutting off discussions swiftly and showing no willingness to negotiate a potential departure for the Swiss attacker.

Okafor will now remain at Elland Road as Leeds continue their Premier League campaign, with the club focused on strengthening rather than losing key attacking players.
