Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged Muslims across the state to uphold the teachings and exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad as they celebrate the annual Maulud, known locally as Takutaha.
The governor made the call on Tuesday in a message to residents marking the religious celebration, urging Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the Prophet’s life and strengthen their commitment to peace, compassion, justice, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Yusuf described the Takutaha celebration as an important part of Kano’s religious and cultural heritage, noting that the occasion provides an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their faith and promote unity within society.
He encouraged residents to demonstrate the values taught by Prophet Muhammad in their daily lives, particularly kindness, respect for others, forgiveness and peaceful engagement with members of their communities.
The governor also called on religious and traditional leaders to continue promoting messages that foster unity, understanding and peaceful coexistence among the people.
He urged young people in particular to learn from the Prophet’s exemplary conduct and contribute positively to the development and stability of Kano State.
Yusuf congratulated Muslims on the celebration and prayed for continued peace, prosperity and progress in Kano State and Nigeria.
