President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the Hausa people as important pillars of Nigeria’s unity and progress, praising their contributions to the country’s national cohesion, cultural heritage and economic development.
Tinubu made the remarks on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in a message to mark Hausa Day, being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace in Katsina State.
The President congratulated the Hausa community on the occasion and acknowledged the significant role played by the people in strengthening Nigeria’s national identity.
He described the Hausa people as “great pillars” who have continued to contribute to the unity and progress of the country.
Tinubu also highlighted the growing influence of the Hausa language, noting that it has expanded beyond its traditional boundaries to become a major language of communication, unity and commerce in different parts of the world.
According to the President, the continued growth and reach of the language reflect the enduring cultural influence of the Hausa people and their contribution to Nigeria’s place in the global community.
“I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today,” Tinubu said.
The President’s message comes as stakeholders and members of the Hausa community gather in Daura to celebrate the history, culture and global influence of the Hausa people.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to continue to recognise and promote the cultural diversity that binds the country together, stressing the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence in national development.
