Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is currently battling stage four cancer, according to reports from his daughters, who have appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father.
The reports have raised concerns among fans and members of the entertainment industry, with many asking whether someone diagnosed with stage four cancer can still survive.
Stage four cancer is considered advanced cancer because it generally means the disease has spread from its original location to distant parts of the body. However, a stage four diagnosis does not automatically mean that death is imminent.
Some people with stage four cancer live for several years, depending on the type of cancer, where it has spread, the patient’s general health and how well the disease responds to treatment.
Doctors may recommend different treatments depending on the specific cancer. These can include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy, radiation therapy or surgery. In some cases, a combination of treatments may be used to control the disease and improve the patient’s quality of life.
It is also important to understand that stage four cancer and terminal cancer are not necessarily the same thing. Stage four describes how far the cancer has spread, while terminal cancer generally refers to a condition that can no longer be controlled and is expected to eventually result in death.
For Ogogo, his exact type of cancer, the parts of his body affected and his response to treatment have not been fully disclosed publicly. It is therefore not possible to determine his individual chances of survival based only on the stage of the disease.
The immediate priority is for the actor to receive proper medical assessment and care from qualified cancer specialists, who can review his condition and determine the most appropriate treatment options.
Ogogo remains a respected figure in the Yoruba film industry, and news of his health condition has generated widespread concern and support from colleagues, fans and well wishers.
