President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to peaceful and transparent elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, spoke on Tuesday in Abuja during the signing of the 2027 National Peace Accord.

The President warned political parties and candidates against using ethnic and religious divisions to gain political advantage. He urged politicians to focus their campaigns on policies, ideas and issues that can improve the lives of Nigerians.

Tinubu said the APC rejects electoral violence, hate speech, misinformation, disinformation and incitement, including the misuse of social media and artificial intelligence.

He urged all political actors to respect the peace accord and place the national interest above personal and partisan ambitions.

The President also called on political parties and their supporters to ensure that the 2027 election campaign strengthens national unity, political stability and democratic development.
