The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Jennifer Adighije, has expressed confidence that the appointment of new directors to the company’s board will strengthen its leadership structure and accelerate the achievement of its strategic objectives.

Adighije said the appointments come at a critical period for the organisation as it continues implementing initiatives aimed at improving electricity generation, transmission and distribution across Nigeria. She noted that a stronger board would provide the strategic oversight needed to enhance operational efficiency and support the company’s long term vision.

According to her, the newly appointed directors bring a wealth of professional experience and expertise that will contribute to sound corporate governance, effective decision making and improved service delivery within the organisation. She expressed optimism that their collective knowledge would reinforce NDPHC’s commitment to delivering reliable power infrastructure for the country.

She further stated that the company remains focused on supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to expand electricity access, strengthen the national grid and improve the overall performance of Nigeria’s power sector. The appointments, she said, reflect a commitment to building a resilient institution capable of meeting the nation’s growing energy demands.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing strong leadership as essential to addressing long standing challenges in the electricity sector, including inadequate infrastructure, financing constraints and transmission bottlenecks. They believe effective governance will play a key role in accelerating ongoing power sector reforms.

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company continues to play a central role in implementing projects under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), which seeks to increase electricity generation capacity and expand transmission and distribution infrastructure nationwide. Over the years, the company has invested in several power projects designed to improve energy availability and support economic growth.

Analysts say sustained investment, transparent governance and efficient project execution will be critical to enabling the NDPHC to achieve its strategic objectives. They also emphasize that stronger collaboration with government agencies, private sector investors and electricity market operators will help deliver more reliable and affordable power to Nigerians.

The renewed focus on leadership and institutional strengthening is expected to position the NDPHC to play an even greater role in supporting Nigeria’s energy transition and broader economic development agenda.
