The Federal Government has reassured Nigerians that there are currently no plans to increase electricity tariffs, putting to rest growing concerns over a possible hike in the cost of power.

The assurance comes amid widespread speculation that electricity consumers could soon face higher bills due to ongoing reforms in the power sector. Government officials emphasized that no decision has been made to raise tariffs, stressing that the welfare of Nigerians remains a priority.

According to the government, any future review of electricity pricing would be carried out transparently and in line with established regulatory procedures, while considering the economic realities facing citizens.

The clarification is expected to provide relief to households and businesses already grappling with the rising cost of living. The Federal Government also reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply and implementing reforms aimed at making the power sector more efficient and sustainable.
