Six people have lost their lives after a lightning strike during a heavy rainstorm in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

According to a report by Sahel Reporters News, the tragic incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m. in Dadiri Tirigali village, where nine people were working on a farm when they were struck by lightning.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the command received an emergency report from the Ganye Divisional Headquarters regarding the natural disaster.

Nguroje explained that police officers were immediately deployed to the scene, where they found the victims lying unconscious on the ground.

He said three of the victims later regained consciousness after receiving medical attention, while six others were confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and urged residents to exercise caution during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, especially when working in open fields or other exposed areas.
