Three political appointees of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have resigned their appointments amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Sunday Olugbenga Falana.
Their resignations were formally communicated on Monday, November 2, 2026, with the officials indicating that their decisions would take immediate effect.
Ojo, who hails from Ago-Are in Atisbo Local Government Area of the state, submitted his resignation through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
In his letter, he referenced his appointment letter dated June 22, 2026, and announced his decision to step down from the State Executive Council.
Although he did not disclose the reason for his resignation, Ojo expressed appreciation to Makinde for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve the state.
Similarly, Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman, resigned as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning.
In his resignation letter dated November 2, 2026, and addressed directly to the governor, Oyeleke said he was no longer comfortable with the working environment within the administration.
He explained that the prevailing circumstances had made it difficult for him to effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people while serving in government.
However, he thanked Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.
The third official, Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, also resigned his appointment as a member of OYSIEC.
In a letter addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff, Falana announced that his resignation would take immediate effect.
He did not disclose the reason for his decision but described his experience serving on the state’s electoral management body as worthwhile.
The latest resignations add to a growing list of officials who have left the Makinde administration in recent months.
Among them are the former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, former Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office, Tara Adefope, former Special Adviser on Security, Fatai Owoseni, and former member of the state Advisory Council, Babatunde Oduyoye.
Others include former Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters, Funmi Arulogun, and several political appointees who resigned their positions in October.
Meanwhile, reacting to the latest developments, the Director-General of Media and Publicity of the Bimbo Adekanmbi Campaign Council, Yinka Oladoyinbo, said the resignations would not affect the political prospects of the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State.
He maintained that the people, rather than individual politicians, would ultimately determine the outcome of the forthcoming elections.
The developments come as political alignments continue to emerge ahead of the 2027 general elections and the December 29, 2026 local government elections in Oyo State.
