Bajju professionals have called for a new political culture anchored on unity, purposeful leadership, mentorship and active participation in governance to accelerate the development of Kajju land in Kaduna State.

The call was made at the 2026 Bajju Professional Careers Development and Kajju Political Summit held at Gwaben Hall in Zonkwa, headquarters of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.

The summit brought together professionals, traditional rulers, political aspirants, youth and women’s groups, as well as other community stakeholders to discuss political awareness and leadership development.

President of Bajju Professionals, Dr Sheyin David Madaki, said the summit was organised out of concern for the future of Kajju land and the need for a credible platform for political enlightenment, professional networking and mentorship.

He described the association as non-partisan and development-oriented, urging professionals to move beyond criticising leadership from the sidelines and participate actively in shaping the community’s political future.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Peter Sunday Kazah, urged young people to reject political thuggery, vote-buying and divisive sentiments, and embrace education, dialogue and community service.

President of the Bajju Association, Bege Andrew Ahuwan, called for unity and collective action, warning that internal disagreements and personal rivalries could weaken the community’s political voice.

At the summit, Professor Bakut Tswah Bakut proposed establishing a Bajju Leadership Mentorship Academy to train young people in ethical leadership, governance, public speaking and conflict resolution.

The Agwom Kajju II, His Royal Highness Luka Kogi Yabwat, pledged the traditional institution’s support for initiatives promoting peace, unity and development.

The summit also featured discussions with aspirants for the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, who addressed political representation, youth inclusion and infrastructure-driven development.
