Chelsea returned from the international break with a 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton on Saturday, October 17, thanks to a second-half brace from Pedro Neto.
The Portuguese winger broke the deadlock just 43 seconds after the restart, finishing from close range after Jorrel Hato delivered a low cross into the box.
Everton struggled to find an equaliser as Chelsea maintained their defensive discipline and limited the hosts’ attacking threat.
Neto sealed the win in the 90th minute, calmly finishing a loose ball following a blocked free kick to secure all three points for the visitors.
The result handed Everton their first league defeat of the season and moved Chelsea provisionally into fourth place in the Premier League standings.
However, Chelsea’s victory was overshadowed by an injury to goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who was stretchered off after a collision with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Mike Penders came on to make his Premier League debut and helped Chelsea secure a clean sheet.
The win also marked Chelsea’s first Premier League clean sheet since January, ending a run of 22 league matches without one.
Neto’s performance proved decisive, giving Chelsea a valuable away victory as they continued their push up the league table.
