Sporting Lagos coach Jeffrey Buter has praised Victor Samuel for his impressive contribution against Bendel Insurance while welcoming Odinaka Okoro back from injury ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League clash with Plateau United.
Samuel played a crucial role in Sporting Lagos’ comeback victory after Bendel Insurance stunned the hosts with a goal just 18 seconds into the encounter.
The forward restored parity before Gafar Olaniyan completed the turnaround, securing all three points for the Lagos-based side in front of their home supporters.
Buter expressed delight at Samuel’s performance, acknowledging the challenges the player had overcome.
“I’m really happy for Samuel after what he has gone through. He is a dynamic player,” the coach said.
The Sporting Lagos boss also welcomed Okoro’s return to the squad after a spell on the sidelines through injury.
“Odinaka Okoro is back in the team after some time out. As a young lad, I am happy for him too,” Buter added.
Okoro’s availability provides an additional option for Sporting Lagos as they prepare for their next league assignment and seek to maintain the momentum gained from their victory over Bendel Insurance.
The team will face Plateau United in their Matchday Nine fixture, with Buter set to come up against Shola Adegun, a friend and former colleague who is now part of the Jos-based club’s technical setup.
“We go back and prepare ahead of Plateau United on Matchday Nine, with Shola Adegun, who is a friend and colleague. We shared the dugout, and he is now with Plateau United,” Buter said.
Sporting Lagos will hope Samuel can sustain his form and Okoro’s return can strengthen the squad as they pursue another positive result in the NPFL.
