LASK head coach Dietmar Kühbauer is hopeful that Nigerian forward Moses Usor will recover quickly from a shoulder injury sustained during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Rapid Wien.

Usor entered the match at the Raiffeisen Arena in the 61st minute, replacing Austrian striker Christoph Lang, but lasted only 12 minutes before being withdrawn. United States forward Samuel Adediran came on in his place.

Kühbauer confirmed the injury after the game, expressing optimism that the setback would not keep the 24-year-old sidelined for long.

“Mo has a slight injury to his shoulder joint. I hope it won’t take too long,” the LASK coach said, according to Laola.

Usor is now a doubt for LASK’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Liverpool on Wednesday, potentially leaving the Austrian side without an important attacking option.

The injury comes at an inconvenient time for Kühbauer’s team, who face a congested schedule of eight matches across all competitions over the next four weeks, limiting opportunities to rest and rotate players.

Despite the setback, Usor has enjoyed a promising period with the Super Eagles. The forward made his Nigeria debut during the September international break and quickly made an impact, scoring the winning goal in the team’s 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

Introduced from the bench, Usor needed just 14 minutes to produce an impressive individual effort that completed Nigeria’s comeback after George Ilenikhena had cancelled out Ehsan Kari’s opener.

The Nigerian will now be hoping for a swift recovery as he seeks to build on his encouraging start to life with the national team and maintain his momentum at club level.
