Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee citizens and the media access to polling unit result sheets during the 2027 general elections.
Agbakoba said public access to election results is important for promoting transparency, strengthening accountability and building public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Polling unit result sheets provide official records of votes counted at individual polling units. Making them accessible would enable journalists, election observers and citizens to compare results and identify possible discrepancies during collation.
The call comes as attention shifts towards preparations for the 2027 elections, with electoral transparency expected to remain a major issue for INEC and other stakeholders.
