GOXI Microinsurance Company Limited paid ₦160.65 million in insurance claims between January and July 2026, providing financial relief to policyholders affected by unexpected losses and expanding its community support programmes.
The company said the payments reflected its commitment to helping individuals, families, traders and small business owners recover from financial setbacks. Its latest disbursement builds on more than ₦821 million in claims previously reported over six years.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shina Gbadegesin said prompt claims settlement remained central to the company’s operations, particularly for customers with limited financial resources.
He explained that microinsurance could help protect vulnerable households and small businesses against losses that might otherwise disrupt their livelihoods. The company also pledged to continue making its insurance products affordable and accessible.
Beyond its insurance operations, GOXI has expanded its corporate social responsibility activities to cover environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment and assistance for vulnerable groups.
In June, the company organised an environmental clean-up and waste-management awareness campaign at Alade Market in Ikeja, Lagos State, mobilising employees, traders and community members to promote proper waste disposal.
The insurer also marked International Women’s Day in March by visiting three female clients and presenting them with gifts in recognition of women’s contributions to families, businesses and economic development.
In October 2025, GOXI extended its community outreach to the Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care and Treatment Home in Akoka, Lagos, where it provided donations and support to children and other vulnerable individuals.
Gbadegesin said the company’s community programmes complemented its core responsibility of providing financial protection and helping people withstand economic and social challenges.
The claims payments highlight the potential role of microinsurance in improving financial resilience among low-income Nigerians. However, expanding coverage and maintaining prompt settlements will remain important to building public confidence in insurance, particularly among traders and small businesses exposed to fire, accidents and other unexpected losses.
