Former Abia Angels assistant coach Ogochukwu Atube is confident she will return to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) soon, insisting her experience in Nigerian women’s football makes her a strong candidate for clubs seeking technical expertise.
The Delta State-born tactician is currently working with Flying Sports Academy in FESTAC Town, Lagos, where she mentors young male players while remaining active in coaching.
Atube began her coaching journey with Flying Sports Academy, spending six years with the club before moving to Goodland Rangers. She guided the team from the Nationwide League One (NLO) to the Nigeria National League (NNL), where she spent two seasons.
Her progress eventually took her into the NWFL, where she worked with Naija Ratels, Abia Angels and Osun Babes.
“I then joined Flying Sports Academy and worked with them for six years before moving to Goodland Rangers. I handled them from NLO to NNL for two seasons, then started working for clubs in the NWFL,” Atube said.
She worked alongside former Super Falcons goalkeeper Ann Agumanu at Abia Angels until early this season before opting for a temporary return to grassroots football.
Asked when she expected to return to the NWFL, Atube remained optimistic.
“I believe in God that it will be very soon,” she said.
Atube’s current role has kept her motivated as she continues to develop young players. With her experience across different levels of Nigerian football, she believes she is ready to take on another NWFL challenge whenever the opportunity arrives.
