The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has suffered another political setback in Bauchi State following the withdrawal of Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, from the 2027 election race.
Itas, who represents Itas/Gadau State Constituency, formally announced his withdrawal in a letter dated October 5, 2026, addressed to the state leadership of the party. He described the decision as voluntary and personal but did not disclose specific reasons for stepping aside.
The lawmaker currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Petitions and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
He thanked the APM leadership and party members for the confidence reposed in him, as well as the people of Itas/Gadau for their support during his tenure.
His withdrawal comes less than three weeks after another Bauchi lawmaker, Musa Wakili Nakwada, also withdrew from the 2027 race, adding to concerns about the party’s preparations ahead of the elections.
