The Adamawa State House of Assembly has commenced legislative action towards repealing the law establishing the Adamawa State College of Education, Hong.
The proposed legislation, which seeks to repeal the Adamawa State College of Education, Hong Law 2026 and introduce a new legal framework for the institution, passed through its first and second readings during Monday’s plenary.
According to the News Platform, the bill was moved for second reading by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel, representing Maiha Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Moses Yerima, representing Michika Constituency.
Following consideration of the bill, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, referred it to the House Committee on Education, Tertiary and Professional Institutions for detailed examination.
The committee has been given one week to review the proposed legislation and submit its findings and recommendations to the House.
The Speaker further directed the committee to engage relevant government authorities, stakeholders and other interested parties through a public hearing as part of the legislative process.
The proposed law is expected to address the administrative structure, composition and functions of the institution, alongside other matters relating to its operation.
