Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei received $18 million in total compensation in 2025, placing him among the better-paid executives in the technology industry as the artificial intelligence company prepares for a potential public listing.

The figure, disclosed in Anthropic’s IPO filing, puts Amodei ahead of the chief executives of Alphabet and Amazon on reported annual compensation, but well below some of the sector’s highest-paid leaders. His package was made up largely of stock and options rather than salary.

Amodei’s annual salary was raised to $1.4 million in July, while his sister and Anthropic President Daniela Amodei received the same salary. Daniela’s total compensation for 2025 stood at $16.4 million, with equity awards accounting for most of the amount.

Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering that could value the company at more than $2 trillion. The company has expanded rapidly in the generative AI market through its Claude family of models, while committing billions of dollars to computing infrastructure.

The size of Amodei’s package also illustrates how compensation at major technology companies increasingly depends on equity. The value of shares and options can rise sharply when a private company grows in valuation or enters public markets.

Anthropic’s founders have pledged to devote 80% of their personal equity in the company to charitable causes, according to the IPO filing.
