A lawyer has warned Nigerians against making statements suggesting that the outcome of the 2027 general election has already been determined.
The lawyer said such claims could undermine public confidence in the electoral process and create unnecessary tension ahead of the election.
He urged politicians, political analysts and members of the public to allow Nigerians to freely decide their preferred candidates when they go to the polls.
According to him, political predictions should not be presented as established facts, as several factors could influence voters and change the political landscape before the election.
He stressed that the strength of political parties, popularity of candidates, economic conditions, security and other issues could affect the choices of voters.
The lawyer also urged Nigerians to reject claims that any candidate has already secured victory, saying the final outcome should be determined by votes cast by eligible citizens.
He called on political actors to focus on issue based campaigns and respect democratic principles as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
He further appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and participate actively in the electoral process rather than becoming discouraged by predictions about the outcome.
