Presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he would spend some of his holidays in Zamfara and Borno states if elected president, as part of efforts to deepen his connection with communities affected by insecurity.
Obi said his administration would prioritise the security and welfare of Nigerians, particularly residents in areas that have experienced prolonged violence and displacement.
He said visiting such communities would allow the government to better understand their challenges and demonstrate solidarity with residents affected by insecurity.
The former Anambra State governor also stressed the need for stronger measures to address insecurity, poverty and unemployment across the country.
According to him, government officials should not remain distant from Nigerians facing difficult conditions but should regularly engage with affected communities.
He said his proposed approach would focus on strengthening institutions, improving security and creating economic opportunities for young people.
Obi’s remarks come as insecurity remains a major concern in parts of northern Nigeria, with Zamfara and Borno among states that have experienced attacks, displacement and humanitarian challenges.
He urged Nigerians to support efforts aimed at building a safer and more prosperous country.
