The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Seth for allegedly macheting his father to death in the Pipeline area of Rumukwurushi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The police said the suspect was arrested after allegedly attacking his father with a machete, inflicting several injuries, including wounds to his neck. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

A neighbour said the suspect, who is reportedly in his 20s, had allegedly been consuming a hard liquor known as Ice, which had reportedly caused disagreements between him and his father.

According to the neighbour, the suspect’s mother returned from work and found the house in disarray. She reportedly discovered her husband lying inside and alerted neighbours after noticing something was wrong.

Vigilante members and police officers were subsequently called to the scene. They reportedly forced open a locked door and found the suspect with bloodstains on his hands. The suspect allegedly admitted killing his father.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the arrest and said investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
