The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has reinstated Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru as its state chairman, three months after he was suspended from office.
The decision was announced by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Assalafi, during a press conference at the APC state secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
According to the party, the Kebbi State Working Committee (KSWC) reviewed the circumstances surrounding Kana-Zuru’s suspension and resolved to revoke the earlier decision with immediate effect.
Kana-Zuru was suspended by the State Working Committee on June 20, 2026, under Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026. Following his suspension, the Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mudi-Augie, had been performing the functions of acting state chairman.
With the latest resolution, Kana-Zuru is to immediately resume the full functions, powers, duties and responsibilities of the office of state chairman.
The party also terminated the interim leadership arrangement involving Mudi-Augie, directing him to return to his substantive position as Deputy State Chairman.
The State Working Committee further ordered that all official records, documents, correspondence and other affairs relating to the office of the state chairman be handed over to Kana-Zuru.
The APC State Secretary was also directed to communicate the resolution to the party’s national headquarters for information and necessary action.
The resolution was adopted at the party’s state secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on October 1 and took effect immediately.
The development restores Kana-Zuru to the leadership of the APC in Kebbi State and brings the three-month interim arrangement to an end.
