The Kano State Police Command has reiterated that the ban on Durbar processions and horse riding activities in public places across the Kano metropolis remains in force.
The command said the restriction was necessary to prevent possible confrontations and maintain public order following security concerns surrounding planned activities.
The Kano State Government had earlier suspended all forms of Durbar processions and horse riding in the metropolis until further notice after an emergency meeting of the State Security Council.
The government said security assessments indicated significant mobilisation of supporters, raising concerns about possible clashes and a breakdown of law and order.
The police warned residents, traditional institutions, political actors and their supporters to comply with the directive, adding that security agencies had been directed to enforce the restriction.
The command urged residents to remain calm and law abiding as security personnel continue to monitor developments across the metropolis.
