The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, in the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Adeyemi, 38, was arraigned before Justice Mohammed Umar on an eight count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The prosecution, led by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, urged the court to remand Adeyemi in custody pending trial.

His lawyer, Genesis Francis, asked the court to hear his bail application, saying Adeyemi had a medical appointment scheduled for Friday over an ailment he described as contagious. The prosecution opposed his immediate release, saying adequate medical facilities were available at the correctional centre.

Justice Umar declined to hear the bail application immediately, citing the volume of cases before the court. He adjourned the matter until October 12, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and continuation of the substantive trial.

The prosecution alleges that Adeyemi forged presidential documents, including an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Tinubu and signed by former Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Adeyemi has denied the allegations and maintained his not guilty plea.
