Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has rejected claims by US President Donald Trump about recent communications between Washington and Tehran, describing his statements as false and warning that Iran would resist any attempt to pressure it into negotiations.
The Guards said Trump was using what they described as contradictory and misleading claims to create confusion about Iran’s position. The remarks followed Trump’s assertion that Iranian officials had sought talks with the United States.
Iran has maintained that it is prepared to defend its interests while rejecting what it considers unacceptable conditions for negotiations. The dispute comes amid heightened tensions between the two countries and uncertainty over efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
The Revolutionary Guards, one of Iran’s most powerful military and political institutions, said Iran would not be intimidated by US threats and would continue to respond to what it considers hostile actions.
Trump has repeatedly said that diplomacy remains possible but has also warned that Washington could take further action if Iran does not meet US demands.
The conflicting statements underline the difficulty of establishing a diplomatic channel between Washington and Tehran as both sides continue to issue sharply different accounts of their contacts and intentions.
