President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian filmmakers Damilola Osikoya of Switch Visuals Production and Nora Awolowo of Rixel Studios for setting a Guinness World Record with their film, Black Market.
The record was achieved during the screening of Black Market at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on September 26, 2026. Guinness World Records recognised 51,000 qualifying viewers, making it the largest attendance at a film screening.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Osikoya and Awolowo for their creativity, enterprise and determination.
The President described the achievement as evidence of the talent and growing global influence of Nigeria’s creative industry.
He said the creative economy was contributing to business growth and job creation while providing opportunities for Nigerian talents to reach international audiences.
Tinubu also noted that the success of Black Market demonstrated what could be achieved when creativity was combined with enterprise and scale.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses through their creative talents.
The President commended everyone involved in the production and record-breaking screening of the movie and wished the filmmakers greater success in their future projects.
The achievement has further highlighted the growing international attention being attracted by Nigeria’s film and entertainment industry.
