The Federal Government has commenced the second phase of its review of Nigeria’s agricultural laws as part of efforts to replace outdated provisions with a modern legal framework capable of supporting food sovereignty and sustainable economic growth.
According to the report by Guardian the review is expected to address gaps in existing legislation and create a stronger policy and regulatory environment for agriculture and agribusiness across the country.
The initiative is also aimed at improving the conditions for investment, strengthening the agricultural value chain and promoting agribusiness as a key driver of economic development.
Through the review, the government seeks to align Nigeria’s agricultural laws with current realities and emerging opportunities in the sector, while supporting increased food production and greater participation by private sector operators.
