The Pistis Foundation has expanded its UBOMI free medical and surgical outreach to Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for underserved communities.
Speaking at the opening of the five day programme, the foundation’s Executive Director, Leonard Thomas, said the initiative was introduced in Ibadan to support people who may struggle to afford essential medical services. He said UBOMI, now in its 10th year, was being extended beyond Lagos to reach more communities across Nigeria.
The outreach provides free medical consultations, diagnostic investigations, medicines, dental and eye care, health education, as well as general and specialist surgical procedures.
Thomas said the foundation was encouraged by the turnout and expected more than 5,000 people to benefit from the Ibadan edition before the programme moves to Lagos next month.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, commended The Elevation Church for supporting the outreach and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to initiatives that improve healthcare access.
Also speaking, the Founder and Executive Director of Pro Health International, Dr Iko Ibanga, said beneficiaries would receive treatment for conditions including hernia, eye and fibroid cases, alongside dental procedures and other medical services.
According to the foundation, UBOMI has provided 48,706 verified medical interventions since 2019 and recorded a 99 per cent surgical success rate over the past six years.
The 2026 outreach is being implemented in partnership with The Elevation Church in Ibadan and Lagos, Pro Health International as technical partner and Zenithcare Hospital, Oyo State, as the medical institutional partner.
