The Los Angeles Rams marked Aaron Donald’s return to the NFL with a convincing 28-6 victory over the New York Giants, while Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left the game with a knee injury.
Donald, who had not played an NFL game for 32 months, returned to action for the Rams and recorded three tackles. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year received a huge reception from supporters at SoFi Stadium.
The Rams were led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Davante Adams. Stafford threw four touchdown passes, while Adams produced eight receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns as Los Angeles recovered from its opening-week defeat to San Francisco.
Dart was forced out during the Giants’ opening offensive series after taking a heavy hit. Reports indicated that he suffered an MCL sprain and would undergo an MRI, while coach John Harbaugh said the injury was in the vicinity of an MCL sprain.
Jameis Winston replaced Dart but struggled to generate an offensive response, throwing for 111 yards and one interception.
The result leaves both teams at 1-1 after two games.
