Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has claimed that five governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are secretly supporting the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the claim in a recent statement while discussing the growing political activities and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, the alleged support from some APC governors shows that political loyalties may be shifting as opposition parties continue efforts to challenge the ruling party.
Fayose did not publicly identify the five governors he alleged were backing the NDC. His claim could not independently establish the identities or verify that the governors were secretly supporting the opposition party.
The development comes amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with several prominent politicians and political groups repositioning themselves.
The NDC has also attracted attention following the movement of opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, into the party.
Fayose has previously expressed support for Obi and the opposition movement, while maintaining that his political relationship with members of the Tinubu family does not necessarily mean he supports the APC.
Political activities are expected to intensify as parties prepare for the 2027 elections, with defections, alliances and negotiations likely to shape the contest.
