Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added an academic milestone to his professional football career after graduating with Merit from the PFA Business School.
The Coventry City forward earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship, marking another significant achievement away from the pitch.
Awoniyi announced the accomplishment on Instagram on Tuesday, describing his graduation as another proud moment and emphasising the importance of combining football with education.
“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi wrote while announcing his graduation.
The Nigerian striker said he had always believed that pursuing a professional football career should not prevent him from continuing his education and developing his knowledge of the game.
“I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game, and education has become an important part of that journey for me,” he said.
Awoniyi also expressed appreciation to the PFA Business School, his lecturers and fellow students for their support throughout the programme.
He extended his gratitude to his family and friends for their encouragement, adding: “Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”
The academic achievement comes as Awoniyi continues his football career with Coventry City, having joined the Premier League club from Nottingham Forest in August 2026.
The striker began his professional journey with Imperial Academy in Nigeria before moving to Liverpool in 2015.
He subsequently enjoyed spells with several European clubs, including Union Berlin and Nottingham Forest, before establishing himself as a senior Nigeria international.
Awoniyi’s latest achievement highlights his efforts to prepare for life beyond playing football while continuing to develop his understanding of the wider football industry.
