Several high-profile footballers are still without clubs following the closure of the transfer window, with a host of established stars now available to negotiate moves as free agents.

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the list features some of the biggest names in world football, giving clubs an opportunity to strengthen their squads without paying a transfer fee.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is among the most prominent names available, while England winger Jadon Sancho is also searching for a new club.

The free-agent market also includes experienced defenders Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos and David Alaba, all of whom have enjoyed highly successful careers at the highest level.

Former France striker Karim Benzema is another major attraction on the list. The veteran forward has enjoyed a decorated career, particularly during his time at Real Madrid, and remains one of the most recognisable players currently available without a transfer fee.

Other notable names include Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho, Ivory Coast midfielder Yves Bissouma and England winger Raheem Sterling.

Former Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Zaha are also among the players currently looking for new clubs.

The list is further strengthened by Croatia international Marcelo Brozović and Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches, who are both available as free agents.

With the transfer window now closed, clubs can still negotiate with unattached players, meaning several teams could yet add significant experience and quality to their squads.

For players of this calibre, the next challenge will be finding clubs capable of matching their ambitions and offering them the opportunity to continue competing at the highest level.
