Ardova Plc has renewed its sponsorship of the Nigeria Handball Premier League for another year, reaffirming its commitment to the growth and development of handball in Nigeria.
The extension comes after the expiration of the company’s initial three-year sponsorship agreement with the Handball Federation of Nigeria, with the competition retaining the name Ardova Handball Premier League.
Chairman of Ardova Plc, Dr. Sowami, said the company was encouraged by the progress recorded by the league and remained committed to providing opportunities for young Nigerian athletes to develop their talents.
“We are pleased with the progress recorded by the Ardova Handball Premier League and look forward to supporting another competitive and impactful season,” Sowami said.
The company’s Managing Director, Dr. Babatunde-Ojo, described Ardova’s involvement in the competition as more than a commercial partnership, saying it represents an investment in the future of Nigerian sports.
“The Ardova Handball Premier League has continued to provide a platform for talented Nigerian athletes to compete, develop and showcase their abilities.
“Our objective is to see a league that is professionally organised, highly competitive, and capable of producing athletes who can excel nationally and internationally,” he said.
The renewal was welcomed by the Handball Federation of Nigeria, with its president, Jibril Saidu Ojih, describing the decision as a strong vote of confidence in the direction of the sport and the potential of its athletes.
“The Handball Federation of Nigeria is delighted to partner with AP for another year. This is a strong vote of confidence in the direction of Nigerian handball and, most importantly, in the potential of our athletes and the domestic league,” Ojih said.
He added that the renewed sponsorship would support efforts to improve the organisation, standards, visibility and competitiveness of the league.
The Ardova Handball Premier League remains an important platform for discovering and nurturing emerging talent, with top clubs competing in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The continuation of the partnership is expected to provide greater stability for the domestic competition while creating more opportunities for players to progress to the national teams and compete at international level.
With Ardova’s renewed backing, stakeholders will hope the league can continue to improve its structure, attract greater visibility and produce a new generation of Nigerian handball stars.
