President Bola Tinubu and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have intensified efforts to resolve the controversy surrounding the party’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council list.
Tinubu held a closed door meeting with the APC governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday as consultations continued over the controversial list released by the party on August 23, 2026.
The meeting followed growing concerns within the party over the composition of the campaign council and allegations that some key stakeholders were not adequately consulted before the list was released.
The controversy also intensified following the inclusion of some party chieftains facing corruption related allegations, prompting calls for the list to be reviewed.
Sources close to the party said the meeting was aimed at reviewing and reworking the composition of the council to address the concerns raised by governors and other party stakeholders.
The initial campaign council list was reportedly removed from the APC’s social media platform, with a new list expected to be released after consultations with the President are concluded.
The APC had earlier named Tinubu as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, as vice chairmen.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari was named Director General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed secretary.
The latest consultations are expected to produce a revised structure that will accommodate the interests of key party stakeholders and strengthen coordination ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
