Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Nigerian managers and professionals to embrace ethical leadership, innovation and continuous learning to build stronger institutions and remain relevant in a rapidly changing economy.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, gave the advice at the 65th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Night of the Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, held in Lagos.
The governor said rapid urbanisation, technological disruption, economic transformation and changes in the workplace were creating new demands for leaders in both the public and private sectors.
He stressed that modern leadership required more than technical competence, urging managers to combine strategic thinking with integrity, adaptability and continuous learning.
Sanwo-Olu also called on professionals to embrace digital transformation and strengthen professional standards, saying strong institutions were essential for public trust, stability and sustainable development.
He commended NIM for its contributions to management development and professional excellence in Nigeria, while urging the institute to continue equipping managers with the skills needed to compete in the global economy.
The event also featured the investiture of Hamzat as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management, in recognition of his contributions to leadership and public administration.
